Disassembly of the components

Items identified "as necessary" are to be fully evaluated in order to determine if removal is required for replacement or other purposes.

The removal process entails dismantling the specified components to facilitate:
‍

inspection of the underlying structure;
inspection of the adjoining structure;
necessary repair or replacement of components.

In every instance, components and panels taken off or separated from the vehicle must be handled with the aim of reuse.

They should be stored in a location and manner that prevents breakage, damage, or deterioration while they are removed from their usual installed position on the vehicle.

Unless otherwise directed, all caulking, sealants and corrosion on components to be reused shall be removed prior to reinstallation of the subject components

Installation Work

The Installation process involves assembling removed parts, or new parts as specified, necessary to restore the vehicle to its original or modified condition as outlined in this specification.

All replacement components must be certified by the original equipment manufacturer of the vehicle.

Non-hardening sealant

An approved sealant designed for the purpose intended shall be applied to the exterior boundary of joints in the form of a bead to prevent entrapment of silt and moisture.

An approved non-hardening sealant designed for the purpose intended shall be applied between all overlapping panels, joints and seams where joints are separated during the performance of the work.

The sealant shall be applied in such a complete uninterrupted layer so as to fully isolate dissimilar metals and prevent the ingress/entrapment of moisture.

All visible portions shall have beads of sealant applied so as to provide functional and a neat cosmetic appearance. Sealants will also be applied in specified areas to prevent moisture penetration and subsequent damage.

Any accident damage to exterior front, rear, and side panels must be identified prior to repair authorization and before the commencement of work.
